  • [Bag Bliss] Andrew Marc Audrina Bag

    Andrew Marc Audrina Bag
Piperlime has added some new designers to their selection, one of which being Andrew Marc. Personally, I have never been too interested in Andrew Marc handbags. For some reason, they just look way too rugged to me. Does anyone else know what I’m talking about? To me, a lot of Andrew Marc’s styles look like something you would find at Eddie Baur along with some nice wool socks. But when I saw the Andrew Marc Audrina Bag over at Piperlime, I found myself pausing for a moment. Is it just me, or does this bag look like a cross between a Kooba and a Foley + Corinna? Oh well, it still just isn’t something I could picture myself wearing. I like the idea of the two-in-one styling, but this bag just doesn’t do it for me for some reason. Also, the leather looks like it would scratch easily. Actually, come to think of it, I don’t think I have ever seen an Andrew Marc bag that didn’t scratch easily. So what does everyone else think? Are we sticking with our Kooba and F+C handbags?

The Andrew Marc Audrina Bag measures 16.5″ x 15″ x 6″ and is available in Pomegranate (shown) and Black. It retails for $495.

    Find it at Piperlime.

  • [Bag Bliss] Bryna Nicole Handbags - The Fall and Holiday 2008 Collections

    Bryna Nicole Handbags
When Jennifer asked me to do a post about Bryna Nicole Handbags, I have to admit, I had absolutely no clue where to start. I have heard the name Bryna Nicole before, but I wasn’t very familiar with her handbags at all. In fact, the name has only popped up a handful of times over at tBf. So I set out to find some information about this designer and I came back pleasantly surprised. Bryna Nicole Hubbs was born and raised in San Francisco and she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising there. Always interested in fashion, she didn’t discover her passion for accessories until she became a fashion consultant for a high-end clientele base. For her, a look just isn’t complete without the perfect shoes, jewelry, and (of course) handbag to go with. When it comes to Bryna Nicole’s style philosophy, a handbag should be meant to last season after season. All of her styles are classic, yet expressive in their own unique ways. She appreciates luxurious materials and fine craftsmanship, which can easily be seen in her handbag collections. For the Fall and Holiday 2008 Collections, Bryna Nicole has a little something for everyone — from functional, everyday bags to playful, night-on-the-town clutches. I really like the variety and attention to detail seen in all of her styles, big and small. Plus they all seem to have a real down to earth feel about them. Below are a few of my favorites:

The Minna Slouch - With it’s large size and unstructured style, this bag is great for everyday use. It retails for $517. Currently available in Red Patent, Cream, Grey, and Chocolate.

The Loyola Satchel - As seen on the Gossip Girl, this style returns for another season after being the company’s number one seller in 2007. It retails for $539. Currently available in Violet only.

The Hallam Clutch - A gorgeous clutch featuring pleats and tone-on-tone accents. It retails for $198 - $218. Currently available in Chocolate, Violet, Cream, Grey, Red Patent, Teal Suede, Yellow, and Black. It is also available in exotics and metallics (Holiday 2008 Collection).

The Rosemont Clutch - A larger, more roomy clutch that features a lovely gathered look. It retails for $320 - $440. Currently available in Navy, Gold, Silver, Bronze Croco, Gunmetal Croco, and Fuchsia Croco (all from the Holiday 2008 Collection).

Burberry - The British Fashion Luxury House

Burberry - The British Fashion Luxury House
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Roy_Leadwell]Roy Leadwell

The company that was founded in 1856 by the 21 year old Thomas Burberry, opened its first store in the town of Hampshire, England. The company is well known for its Check pattern and is copied throughout the world. By the 1870 the company was focused on developing outdoor wear. Thomas created the fabric gabardine, which is a very durable water resistant fabric and was patented in 1888.

The company headquarters was opened in a emporium in Haymarket, London in 1891, which it still stands today. The logo for Burberry was developed and trademarked in 1904, and they also outfitted at the time Roald Amundsen, he was the first man to reach the south pole, and in 1914 the man who lead an expedition across Antarctica, Ernest Shackleton. During the first World War the War office commissioned Burberry to create an officer’s coat, which eventually became what is known today as the modern trench coat. This design was popularized by Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Peter Seller in the Pink Panther. The style and grace of the check pattern has been embraced by the most fashionable celebrities, new and old.

The Check pattern known as novacheck or the “Burberry check” was the lining that was used for their trench coats in the 20’s. In the late 60’s the design was widely used in their luggage, handbags and umbrellas. The check image had some issues in the 70’s when it became popular with the British football crowd, which led to its association with hooligans. It became a running joke nationally and the South Wales police had a drive against anti-social behavior, they used the name Operation Burberry.

By the time the 90’s rolled around the company brought in Model Kate Moss to help revitalize the brand with a national campaign. In December 2005 it was spun off as the Burberry Group. The company has 36 company-owned retail stores in the US: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

Why Women Are Still Crazy For High End Burberry Handbags

Why Women Are Still Crazy For High End Burberry Handbags
By Gregg Hall

The same company that invented the trench coat, and the fabric called Gabardine, is still inventing today. When we think about the great inventions in the world we don’t normally think about people who make clothing and fashion accessories, but the truth is that a lot of thought goes into designing new fashions that serve new and special purposes. Where would we be without the great innovations of designers who have created new types of clothing and accessories that make our life so much easier?

The Prosum, Heritage, Nova, Zip Hobo and Baby Messenger bags are new lines that have come out of this company recently, and among those styles there are many new innovations that make a purse much easier to work with. Special kinds of trim, flaps, snap fasteners that make it easy to open and close the bag with one hand and many other innovations are included in this company’s accomplishments.

Burberry bags come in several colors including tan, beige, white, wine, alligator, light brown, cognac, and black. The special colors make interesting combinations as accessories for outfits, and a wide variety of colors make these bags more useful for the consumer.

PVC, leather, brass, canvass, nickel, alligator and other materials are all incorporated into the manufacture of their hand bags. Pockets, trim, straps, hidden pockets, fittings, buckles, linings, handles, keys, locks, buckles, zippers and piping are all some of the interesting parts that you might never expect to find in a purse, but which can be found on some of the models made by Burberry.

Designers put a lot of thought into how they make their bags, and the industry is very competitive. Each part of the bag receives special care and attention, and experts think about ways to make them better. Every model makes improvements on models that existed before as the designers try to make their purses better and better.

If the bags that are on the market at any moment cause trouble for the people that use them, the innovators get to work thinking about ways to avoid those problems in the next design. If they tear or break easily, or if they are hard to open, or if the items inside fall out easily, these are problems that the designers need to consider as they plan the next model. They look at the processes where the old bags fail, and they find new ways to make bags so that these problems cannot occur.

The amount of time and energy that goes into making these bags is also reflected in the price. How do you feel about paying five hundred to a thousand dollars for a single designer bag? The materials that go into the manufacture of these bags are the best, and they are expensive on their own. Above this, designers must be paid top dollar by the company for their service, and for all the thought and concentration that goes into finding new designs. In the end this translates to a very high cost for consumer, and it is without a doubt that consumers find these high priced bags well worth the cost.
